When decorating their home, many people don’t put as much consideration as they should into the lamps they choose. If you think about it, the lighting sources you choose can serve two purposes. Not only will they light your home, they can be used as decorating accents as well, doubling their decoration value.
What you want to do is to find lamps and lamp shades that will both look good with what you already have in the room and add new flair as well. If you have a country theme in your living room, you can add a lamp that will bring out that theme and perhaps add a new color as well, to really make the room interesting.
It’s also a good idea to use a combination of table lamps, floor lamps and overhead lighting. This creates depth and interest in your room. Many people don’t realize how much power they’ll have over the way a room looks when they simply change the lighting elements. The next time you’re watching a show where they’re doing a decorating makeover, pay attention to how they’re using the lighting. You’ll see that the different lighting elements can add a lot to a room.
